I am influenced by both traditional Scottish headstones and contemporary hand-crafted memorials. I use a small palette of British stones – black and green slate from the Lake District & Yorkshire sandstone being the most popular. Each of these natural stones has its own qualities & colourations lending themselves for different styles of carving & lettercutting. I have created over 100 memorials in cemeteries and churchyards from Mull to Aberdeen, Morayshire to London undertaking the whole process from initial design through the application stage to the final fixing of the stone.
It is my hope that when clients come to visit they gain an understanding of just how much is possible when collaborating on their own stone. Each memorial is unique and designed to the family’s requirements, reflecting the life of the individual.
